A Tyrannosaurus rex skull earlier excavated in South Dakota is expected to sell for at least a whopping 15 million U.S. dollars at an auction in New York next month.
The 76-million-year-old skull, weighing in at 200 pounds or 91 kilograms, is being sold on December 9th by an anonymous owner.
It was excavated back in 2020 and 2021 in Harding County, South Dakota, where other T-rex skeletons had also been found.
Experts say given the two massive puncture holes in the skull, the T-rex had probably fought with another T-rex before death.
The remnants of this T-rex were largely destroyed over time by erosion, so the skull's discovery came as a pleasant surprise for Sotheby's.
