Sandy Hook conspiracist ordered to pay nearly 1B

Updated: Oct 14, 2022

{O/C} In the United States, the notorious conspiracy theorist in that deadly 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting is facing the music.

This, after a jury unanimously ordered Alex Jones to pay nearly 1 billion for traumatising relatives of victims by lying the shooting rampage was a hoax.

Alex Jones has been ordered to pay 965 million U.S. dollars in all, to the grieving families of eight victims and one FBI agent.

The verdict was unleashed against the Infowars host for spewing the lie that the deadliest shooting in U.S. history never happened.

Jones also painted the inconsolable families seen on the news were merely actors hired as part of a plot to rob people of their guns.

A Texas jury had in August awarded nearly 50 milion to the parents of another slain child.

After the lengthy and gruelling trial, distressed relatives were relieved.

JOSH KOSKOFF, Sandy Hook Victims' Attorney:

This is an incredibly restorative moment. The jury's verdict is a verdict for common decency and humanity.

In the end it won't pay for you. It won't pay for you financially. It will pay for you morally, and it won't pay for you spiritually.

{Soundbite}

BILL SHERLOCK, Sandy Hook Victim:

it shows that the Internet is not the wild, wild west and that your actions have consequences.

A father who lost his six-year-old daughter to the gunman said having the truth prevail despite all the trauma was worth it.

{Soundbite}

ROBBIE PARKER, Father of Deceased Sandy Hook Elementary School Student:

I'm just proud that what we were able to accomplish was just to simply tell the truth.

And it shouldn't be this hard. And it shouldn't be the scary.

But a combative Jones and his lawyer both portrayed the trial as unfair and have pledged to appeal.

Jones is now tangled in another lawsuit in Texas where families are also suing him for slander over the conspiracy claims.

It was back in December 2012 when a murderous shooting rampage consumed the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

26 people succumbed to the shooting, including 20 first-graders.

Throughout the trial, family members attested to their fears one by one despite perilous death and rape threats.

{Soundbite}

CARLEE SOTO, Sister of Victoria Soto, Teacher Killed in Shooting:

It's crippling. You can't breathe properly because you are constantly defending yourself and your family and your loved ones.

{VO}

Experts say Jones is clearly encircled by legal woes.

{Soundbite}

TRE LOVELL, Attorney:

Jones really dug his own grave on this. He got himself caught in a default situation where they chose through their litigation tactics to get in trouble.

{VO}

One of America's deadliest massacres that should speak volumes.
