{O/C} In a new twist to the murderous Uvalde school shooting, one officer was fired by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday.

Sergeant Juan Maldonado's tenure was terminated in a hesitant response to the May 24 massacre.
The sacking came five months following the mass shooting that's prompted scrutiny over state police officers as the police were mercilessly condemned for their sluggish response.
In all, 19 children and two teachers were killed in the incident.
