Naming a cockroach after your lover

{O/C} {And finally} Dragging your feet on writing a billet doux?

Well, why don't you try this one?

{RVO}

I'm talking about naming a cockroach after your lover, or perhaps your ex.

This "Name a Roach" programme, held for the eleventh straight year by New York's Bronx Zoo, offers a pretty bizarre way to show, but not articulate, your requited love.

For $15 USD, you can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after your sweetheart. The money then benefits the Wildfire Conservation Society, which is a nonprofit organisation. You will definitely get a certificate to memorialise that gift.

People who tried this say it's a gift designed to last in perpetuity, as distinct from one that comes and goes in a minute.

Other zoos across the United States are also getting in on the act.

This Valentine's day, in addition to sought-after meet-and-greet opportunities to meet the hissing cockroaches in the flesh, the Bronx zoo also had other items on offer, such as cockroach socks and beanies, most of which have been snapped up as well.
