The shooting happened at the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana at around 6 on Sunday evening.
A gunman toting a rifle and several magazines of ammunition unleashed a hail of gunfire upon people inside a food court.
Three people were fatally gunned down.
A twelve-year-old girl was among the two wounded, both of whom are listed in stable condition.
Then a 22-year-old knight in shining armour legally carrying firearm there shot the perpetrator to death.
The shooting again lays bare America's irksomely hefty mass shooting rate as the country was stricken by the perennial spate of mass shootings over the past few months.
