Gold and artefacts discovered near Spanish shipwreck

{O/C} And finally here's a glittering story about artefacts found near the "holy grail of shipwrecks" in Colombia.

{RVO}

Here they are.

The Colombian navy has released footage of coins, cannons and other artifacts dotted all over the seabed surrounding the Spanish galleon -- San Jose -- that sank while battling British vessels over 300 years ago.

The treasure is worth as much as 17 billion dollars by modern standards.

Dubbed the "holy grail of shipwrecks", the vessel, on June 8, 1708, plunged into the deep sea off the coast of Cartagena, Colombia, while laden with gold, silver and prepossessing emeralds along with 600 people on board.

But work has been stifled by legal and diplomatic snags ever since it was located back in 2015.

Colombia's president said the treasured trove of artefacts makes for a unified patrimony that can never be split.
