Endurance's wreckage found

{O/C} {Finally} As we mentioned earlier, a team of explorers ventured upon an endeavour to locate the wreckage of the long-enamoured Endurance.

As it turns out, the historic ship is 10,000 feet below the Weddell Sea.

At the bottom of the Weddell Sea, east of the Antarctic Peninsula, lies the shipwreck of the long-revered Endurance.

The explorers began their journey two weeks ago in their quest to locate the wreckage of Endurance in an expedition called "Endurance22". Now, two weeks later comes the story that the shipwreck of the long-revered Endurance, which was a 144-foot, three-masted wooden ship owned by pioneer Ernest Shackleton, has been found.

The battery-powered submersibles, along with undersea drones, combed the seafloor twice a day to search for any trace of the vessel.

Endurance spawned one of the most amazing survival stories ever in history.

The first images of the ship revealed parts of the vessel in great detail. An image of the stern shows clearly the name "ENDURANCE".

The director of the expedition, Mensun Bound, said with the freezing water, there's scarcely any wood-eating marine organism in those waters. So the remnants of the vessel remain relatively well-preserved, with the stern looking remarkbly pristine.

It was a generous donor who provided a munificent 10 million dollars for the project.
