{O/C} {And finally} Like pre-pandemic years, St. Patrick's Day revellers returned to the Chicago Loop to witness the annual river-dyeing rite that was nixed for two years because of the pandemic.
{RVO}
The rite took place with this ship dyeing the Chicago River green amid frigid temperatures in the run-up to the much-anticipated St. Patrick's Day, with scores of revellers watching.
That river is now green through and through as people took selfies.
Chicago's own St. Patrick's Day Parade already took place last Saturday following a two-year pandemic hiatus.
And full-fledged parades in other parts of America will mostly be held this Thursday.
Should you be wondering why we all wear green on St. Patrick's Day, it's because green makes us invisible to leprechauns, magical creatures who pinch anyone they can see. The day also commemorates the demise of Ireland's patron saint, St. Patrick.
