In the United States, a pumpkin weighing in at 2,560 pounds has been named the heaviest ever and shattered previous U.S. records.

The massive pumpkin was planted by a horticulture teacher from Minnesota.
His painstaking work of raising a titanic gourd weighing 2,560 pounds paid dividends when he won the 49th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in San Francisco.
Still, that whopping weight wasn't enough for a world record. A grower from Italy now holds that world record for the heaviest pumpkin at 2,702 pounds.

That is special. I really wanted that. I never dreamed of that. And to have it even be mentioned in that conversation was really cool.
Minnesota has a great midyear, but our spring in our parts is really, really tough. So to do it in Minnesota, it just shouldn't happen. It's like winning the Tour de France on a big wheel. You know, you can only hope, but it worked.
