{O/C} Over to the United States, where the country's army is putting more than 3,300 soldiers' jobs on the line because those refusing to get their mandatory COVID-19 vaccine will be discharged soon.

The Army's announcement comes as it is following suit after the Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy discharged active troops and personnel who have refused to get their shots.

Data released by the Army last week shows more than 3,300 soldiers haven't gotten a vaccine yet. Some of those identified in the disciplinary process have already been formally reprimanded, and they could be among the first to be discharged.

The Pentagon has ordered all service members to get the vaccine, saying it's crucial to maintaining the health and readiness of the force.

Roughly 97 percent of all Army soldiers have already received at least one shot. More than 3,000, meanwhile, have requested medical or religious exemptions from the vaccine.

All this, amid a spike in COVID-19 cases across the country in consequence of the Omicron variant.
