{O/C} Former President Donald Trump is never standing down, answering only a question about his name in a civil probe into his business dealings.
This, after repeatedly invoking the Fifth Amendment to avert self-incrimination.

It appears Trump is holding the whip-hand in the long-running civil investigation into his business dealings when he was a business magnate.
In a statement, he claimed he declined to answer all but one question about his name with the help of the Fifth Amendment.
But for the record, that was ironic.

DONALD TRUMP, 2016 Republican Presidential Nominee (September 2016):
Fifth Amendment, Fifth Amendment, Fifth Amendment. Horrible. Horrible.
You see, the mob takes the Fifth. If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?

A lawyer of Trump's said Trump unleashed a wrecking ball inside, calling the probe "the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country."
What's more, he accused New York AG Letitia James of "publicly campaigning on a policy of destroying" him and squandering time on this probe instead of other crimes in New York.
Two of Trump's adult children, Ivanka and Trump Jr. testified earlier this month, while Eric Trump had testified two years ago.
Eric Trump also invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 500 times during a deposition to the same probe in 2020.
The probe into Trump's allegedly fishy dealings derived from evidence that his company deliberately misled lenders and authorities about the values of hotels, golf clubs and holdings to gain financially and dodge taxes.
Trump has repeatedly brushed off the allegations, citing the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago as having wiped out any murky waters.
While sidestepping questions about the Trump probe, the head of the FBI didn't mince words about potential threats to FBI agents from incensed Trump advocates.

CHRISTOPHER WRAY, FBI Director:
Violence against law enforcement is not the answer, no matter what anybody is upset about or who they are upset with.
