Friends to adversaries. These two sides of the same coin stood in striking contrast when push came to shove.

Despite entrusted with rectifying all manner of issues in pandemic-buffeted Britain, a swarm of Boris Johnson's disenchanted Cabinet members -- 55 in all -- tendered their resignation.

Compounding his punishing quandary was a group of his most trusted Cabinet ministers, including newly-installed Treasury Chief Nadhim Zahawi, who said it did behoove him to stand down.

This, after Johnson repeatedly tampered with the wording as regards his handling of sexual misconduct committed by Conservative lawmaker Chris Pincher.

Before buckling under pressure hours ago, he said there's a time and place for everything.

The latest resignations include Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis.

With Boris Johnson's political prospect lingering in limbo, members of the British Parliament admitted the pillars of his administration are gravely flaking.

KEIR STARMER, Labour Party Leader:

NADHIM ZAHAWI, UK Treasury Chief:

We've got to deal with these big things now. I think to indulge in infighting is the wrong thing to do. We've got to unite and and deliver.

SAVID JAVID, Former UK Health Secretary:

I also believe a team is as good as its team captain and that a captain is as good as his or her team. The events of recent months have made it increasingly difficult to be in that team.
