Russian bioweapon conspiracy refuted

{O/C} Russia's unfounded claims that the U.S. is operating biological laboratories in Ukraine to produce bioweapons have somehow found support in America.

This had the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. retorting the claims.

The U.S. appears to be taking the heat over claims it is operating biological warfare laboratories in Ukraine clandestinely.

Yet, at a United Nations Security Council meeting, the U.S. ambassador rebutted the claims, maintaining Ukraine does not have any biological weapons programme.

{Soundbite} LINDA THOMAS-GREENFIELD, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations: There are no Ukrainian biological weapons, laboratories supported by the United States.

Setting the record straight, Greenfield said Ukraine's own laboratory infrastructure only aims to contend with diseases like COVID-19, and that the U.S. is not offering help under wraps.

{Soundbite} Ukraine owns and operates its own public health laboratory infrastructure. These facilities make it possible to detect and diagnose diseases like COVID-19, which benefit us all. The United States has assisted Ukraine to do this safely and securely. This is work that has been done proudly, clearly and out in the open.

Many of those believing Russia's claims cited Russian propaganda outlets as sources, while others took it with a pinch of salt.

Television pundits and well-known political figures have helped spread the information even further, including Fox news.

At the same time, the U.S. and its allies are mulling jointly stripping Russia of its most-favoured nation status. This, in response to Putin's aggressive behaviour that threatens Ukraine's sovereignty.

Biden was also quick to bar luxury item exports to Russia and Belarus as well as Russian imports of seafood, vodka and certain diamonds. White House estimates have Russia's export revenues exceeding 1 billion U.S. dollars per year.

This will deal yet another crushing blow to Russia's economy.

Russia's propaganda has induced revelations that Russia is preparing a false-flag chemical attack on Ukraine that are having both U.S. and European officials trying to nip a possible assault in the bud.

Such an attack would violate a decades-old international treaty banning such weapons.

Additionally, with the bestial bombardment of maternity hospitals, they now serve as the canary in a coalmine, making a Russian chemical attack even more likely.

All this, while Western powers continue to cut the Gordian knot that continues to tighten.

But to prove perseverance always prevails in the end, a mother who was wounded by a Russian airstrike on a maternity hospital in Mariupol successfully gave birth to a baby girl despite Russian shelling outside.
