It was yet another day of air sirens and ruins as 70 deadly Russian missiles roared into Ukraine's critical infrastructure, killing at least three people and exacerbating widespread power outages.

This is the dispiriting aftermath of renewed Russian missile barrages that swept the country.
This residential building in President Zelensky's hometown in central Ukraine lay mangled as a Russian missile barrelled into it.
Two people were killed and eight others injured, including three children.
The third death was in southern Kherson where a person died in a blaze that engulfed an apartment block.
According to Kyiv's Mayor, explosions also rocked the capital, as residents fled for their lives.
Last night's strikes were among the biggest rocket attacks in Kyiv.
Sources say Ukrainian forces foiled 60 of the 76 missiles targeting Kyiv, Kharkiv and Zaporhizhzhia.
60 percent of Kyiv residents were without power and 70 percent without water.
In addition to complete blackouts imposed amid the strikes, residents in Kharkiv are also enduring frigid temperatures without heating.
When it comes to air defence, this Ukrainian official expressed cautious optimism.

Our anti-missile system works quite well, but due to the high quantity of cruise missiles... launched by the Russian Federation, we still face some difficulties.
Unfortunately we have already received information that some cities already (have had electricity cut off).

Citing intelligence reports, Britain's defence ministry claimed Russian soldiers had dug into World War II style trenches, which it says are susceptible to Ukrainian artillery.
As President Zelensky continues to call for more air defence systems from the West, this expert insists Putin will remain defiant.

Russia can't achieve its war aims, but Putin can't admit he's lost.
So he wants to keep the war going in the hope that something will turn up.
