Guamanians return to the Philippines for medical procedures

{O/C} The other day, the Philippines lifted a nearly 2-year ban on foreign travellers.

It is a shot in the arm for its tourism-related industries, as well as the medical industry there.

A Guam-based medical referral office said it has received loads of inquiries from patients planning to travel to Manila for cheaper surgeries ever since the Philippines reopened its borders to foreign travellers.

Meantime, the office has also received a number of inquiries in respect of the entry requirements, such as one that entails a minimum of 35,000 USD in travel insurance for COVID-19 treatment.

Prior to the COVID crisis, many Guamanians travelled to the Philippines for regular or specialised medical procedures.
