GOP Herschel Walker denies abortion report

{O/C} {Now to news in America}

One anti-abortion GOP lawmaker vying for a seat in Georgia's Senate is tangled in an ironic abortion report.

This, after his anonymous former girlfriend went on the record about terminating her pregnancy back in 2009.

Haunting allegations against Senate nominee and former football star Herschel Walker one month before the mid-term elections.

Attesting to her abortion in an interview with the Daily Beast, Walker's former girlfriend cited an abortion receipt, a "get well" card from Walker and a bank deposit receipt featuring the image of a 700-U.S.-dollar personal cheque signed by Walker.

His incognito girlfriend also said Walker spurred her on to terminate the pregnancy, saying the time wasn't right for a baby.

But for the record, Walker has championed an abortion ban after 15 weeks of pregnancy without any exceptions.

What's more embarrassing, Walker has repeatedly likened abortion to "a woman killing her baby" and has relentlessly bashed such procedures following the Supreme Court's anti-Roe V. Wade ruling.

While the allegations have yet to be verified, Walker downright rebuffed them.

{Soundbite}

HERSCHEL WALKER, Republican Nominee for Georgia Senate Race:

I have no idea, but it is a flat-out lie.

I've never asked anyone to get an abortion. I never paid for an abortion and it's a lie.

A defiant Walker also accused Democrats of trying to shift the nation's focus away from unprecedented inflation because they're thirsting for his seat.

But aware of his father's bad track record, Walker's son called his father a liar.

CHRISTIAN WALKER, Herschel Walker's Son:

Don't lie about your life at the expense of me, my mom and all of the people that you've affected throughout your life.

You don't get to pretend you're some moral family guy.

Fellow Republicans like former President Donald Trump expressed solidarity and criticised Democrats for disparaging Walker.

Responding to a barrage of criticisms, President Joe Biden said it's "scary" Republicans are jeopardising personal rights.

{Soundbite}

JOE BIDEN, U.S. President:

Congressional Republicans are doubling down on the extreme position with the proposal for a national ban.

It means that even if you live in a state where extremist Republican officials aren't running the show, your right to choose will still be at risk.
