Wisconsin parade tragedy suspect charged with homicide

{O/C}

We're learning more about the tragedy in which a suburban Milwaukee Christmas parade culminated last weekend.

Darrell Brooks Jr. was charged with five first-degree felony intentional homicide today.

Meantime, the demise of an 8-year-old boy brings the death toll to 6 in what will go down in American history as one of the most nefarious acts ever.

Front-and-centre tonight is the man who was catapulted into the limelight overnight following Darrell Brooks Jr.'s arrest.

A criminal complaint was filed against the 39-year-old, the alleged perpetrator of the attack, for steering side-to-side with malice aforethought in last Sunday's Christmas parade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, leaving 6 dead and 62 others injured.

As the court judge fulminated against the nature of his offence, Brooks faced the music, rocking back and forth in his seat and crying throughout the court hearing.

His bail was set at 5 million U.S. dollars.

According to the court judge, with an 8-year-old boy now among the dead, more charges are pending.

At the same time, new video from a doorbell camera that's a stone's throw away from where the tragedy transpired purports to show Brooks begging people in that house to call an Uber on the pretext of being homeless.

"Can you call it for me please? I'm homeless." Said Brooks.

Before long...

Police officer: "Hands up! Put your hands where I can see them!"

The police moved in for the kill.

A court dossier on the suspect reveals that Brooks has a decades-long criminal history, encompassing a battery of offences such as sexual abuse, drugs, assault and battery and domestic violence. And early this month, he was found to have run over his child's mother. He was on a 1,000-dollar bail when he ran over people partaking in that Christmas parade.

Some 10 children were rushed to the hospital on the day of that tragedy, 10 of whom still remain in ICU.

For some, the trauma is setting in.

"We are all Waukesha."

Tonight, as the police continue to leave no stone unturned in their quest for any ulterior motives behind the catastrophic disaster, comes a memorial attended by people and well-wishers who found themselves caught between the devil and the deep blue sea finding comfort in paying tribute to the dead and grieving in concert.
