{O/C} Famous actor Will Smith, who slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards this year, is facing the music, now that the Academy is banning him from attending the Oscars or any other academy event for 10 straight years.

This, after a meeting of the academy's Board of Governors to discuss a response to Smith's actions.
The Academy released a statement, saying that event was supposed to be a celebration of the devoted actors and actresses who performed incredibly in the past year. But it was that notorious slap in the face that overshadowed the originally joyous event.
But that ban doesn't mean Smith will be ineligible for any awards. It's just that he can't show up in any academy event to receive his awards.
Smith said he accepted and respected the decision. This, after his abrupt resignation from the Academy last week.
The Academy, meanwhile, also apologised for its mishandling of the situation and allowing Smith to stay and even accept his best actor award. It also expressed its gratitude to Chris Rock for his composure despite such an untoward event.
