Wildfires sweep through the U.S. West Coast

{O/C} Ruthless wildfires have left the U.S. West Coast fire-struck as unprecedented heat waves continue to flatten spirits and prompt evacuation orders.

With temperatures inexorably eclipsing, California's power grids may soon be jeopardised.

4,400 firefighters are grappling with 14 wildfires that are launching their own reigns of terror.

Fierce blazes rattled one building in Los Angeles, trapping two as one got out alive.

The Mill and Mountain Fires engulfed over 20 square miles of land in Northern California.

Despite forty percent contained, the Mill Fire still killed two women on Monday.

Authorities say the smothering heat and low humidity are both exacerbating the predicament.

JOSH JANSSEN, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection:

The fire was in alignment with the Canyon, with the wind and the topography, so everything lined up for a critical rate of spread.

The inferno charred and ravaged buildings.

But luck did strike some of the homes fortified by fire retardant.

In Southern California, the Fairview Fire that began on Monday spread to over 2,000 acres, prompting evacuation orders as multiple residential structures buckled under the flames.

Wails of anguish rang out as one fire official expressed sympathy.

STEVE PAPPAS, Lake Shastina Fire Chief:

I feel like we're both hit equally.

I feel for the city of Weed, and I know what they're going through.

With so many structures bruised comes word the grilling heat will continue to tighten the noose on the region.

Temperatures have risen by at least three degrees in the fall as several cities stay above triple digits.

Rolling blackouts may be issued to allay the pressure on California's power grids.

This as the West Coast continues to profusely bleed under climate change.
