Wigged man throws pastry at Mona Lisa in Paris

{O/C} Over in France's Louvre Museum, where a man ostensibly resembling an old woman and faking disability threw a piece of cake at the Mona Lisa.

Visitors were waiting to pose for a picture in front of the prepossessing Mona Lisa when the 36-year-old man, clad as a woman in his wig with lipstick, suddenly sprang from a wheelchair, ducked under a rope barrier separating the painting from the crowd of some 100 people, and hurled the cake at the painting, ranting about planet Earth.

Visitors watched on in disbelief as authorities escorted the man away.

A probe has been ordered into the damage of cultural artefacts.

An unidentified video posted on social media also showed that man throwing roses in the museum gallery to agape guests.

The untoward cake attack left a conspicuous white creamy smear on the glass, but fortunately the famed work by Leonardo da Vinci escaped unscathed.

This isn't the first time the painting was attacked. Back in 2009 a Russian woman indignant over not being given French citizenship attacked it with a ceramic cup, but neither the glass nor the painting was damaged.

The 16th-century Renaissance masterpiece has gone through a lot in its over 500 years in existence.
