India crossed another grim milestone today of more than 300,000 people succumbed to the coronavirus.
4,454 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing India’s total fatalities to 303,720. 222,314 new infections were also reported, bringing the overall total to nearly 27 million.
Residents in New Delhi and other Indian cities are still struggling with a lack of oxygen supplies.
India’s death toll is currently the third-highest in the world, accounting for 8.6 percent of the nearly 34.7 million coronavirus fatalities globally.
According to medical experts, the sluggish vaccination rate in the country is to blame for the recent surge in COVID infections.
