Video surfaces of Black man killed in Ohio

{O/C} A video that emerged of late of an unarmed Black man killed by police in Ohio has stoked a major controversy.

Akron police released a body camera video detailing the shooting of 25-year-old Jayland Walker, who was killed on June 27 in a pursuit that began with an attempted traffic stop.


Walker sustained more than 60 wounds, while it's unclear how many shots were fired.

An attorney for his family claimed that firing persisted even though he had already laid on the ground.


Officers attempted to stop Walker's vehicle at around 12:30 a.m. for unspecified traffic and equipment violations.


The officers embroiled are cooperating with the probe.


Meantime, demonstrators were seen marching peacefully through the city and converging upon the Akron justice centre following the video's release.


The city's mayor called the shooting gut-wrenching while entreating patience from the community.


The shooting came amid a recrudescence of racist attacks across the United States.
