{O/C} Venezuela has reportedly freed at least two jailed U.S. citizens.

The latest move is symbolic of Venezuela's willingness to improve aggravating relations with the Biden administration amid the Russia-Ukraine war.
The prisoners freed are Gustavo Cardenas as well as Jorge Fernandez, who were arrested on what the U.S. called "spurious charges". This, perhaps thanks to a secret visit by top U.S. officials to Caracas.
U.S. President Joe Biden wrote in a statement that the men freed are both fathers who lost precious time with their children and their loved ones.
The release came just hours after Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, expressed his interset in mending fences with the U.S. amid the ongoing Ukraine crisis. In a televised address, Maduro appeared willing to accede to U.S. demands that he resume negotiations with his opponents as a keystone of any relief from punitive sanctions imposed by Washington on Venezuela.
