The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday on U.S. route 281 in Encino, Texas.
The car was designed to carry 15 passengers only. But it was carrying 29 migrants when the mishap happened.
The driver tried to veer off the highway onto Business Route 281, but unfortunately, he lost control of the van. The van ended up slamming into a metal utility pole and a stop sign.
The van was not being pursued.
A surge in migrants sneaking into the U.S. through the border has led to an uptick in the number of crashes involving vehicles carrying migrants. Cases in point are crashes that left 21 people dead in total on March 3rd and 17th this year.
