US hitting latest vaccine milestone

After months of ongoing nationwide vaccination campaign, the United States is set to meet President Joe Biden’s latest vaccination goal of administering 200 million COVID-19 jabs in Biden’s first 100 days in office, as the White House has begun stepping up efforts to inoculate the rest of the public.

Earlier, 50 percent of American adults have been partially vaccinated, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In a speech on Wednesday, Biden said he would reflect on his efforts to expand vaccine distribution and access in his first 100 days in office. Now, people aged 16 or above are already eligible for shots, the president is expected to outline his administration’s plans to drive the vaccination rate even further.

The White House said, maximising the number of Americans vaccinated in the coming months is crucial to succeeding in ending the COVID-19 crisis.

During Trump’s presidency, Trump’s fanciful rhetoric on the virus made people feel Trump was trying to downplay the seriousness of the virus.

The 100 million-dose goal was reached earlier after it was announced on December 8 last year, days before the U.S. had even one authorized COVID-19 vaccine, let alone the three that have now received emergency authorization.

Despite all this, the U.S. is expected to reach Biden’s new goal of administering 200 million COVID-19 shots to the public.
