{O/C} The United Nations has expressed grave concern over Malaysia's continued deportation of asylum seekers hailing from Myanmar back to their home country.
{RVO}
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees cited multiple disconcerting reports of the forcible return of refugees and asylum seekers since April.
With that, the refugee agency has called for Malaysia to immediately stop deporting Myanmar nationals seeking safety from grievous harm.
Myanmar has been blanketed by political turmoil ever since a military coup last year.
At least 2,300 have been killed as a result of the military's relentless clampdown on dissent in forms like mass extrajudicial killings and air strikes targeting civilians.
