But according to his office, the Republican is in good health and asymptomatic so far.

Abbott has been refusing to reinstate mask mandates all along as the highly contagious delta variant surges in Texas.

Having received monoclonal antibody treatment and currently isolating in his mansion in Austin, Abbott said in a video posted in social media that having been fully vaccinated may be the reason why he's asymptomatic so far.

Recently he was seen mingling with attendees during a campaign as he's up for re-election in 2022.

At least four Texas school district had already been temporarily closed by Tuesday due to virus outbreaks just days after students returned to face-to-face classes.

More than 12,200 patients in Texas were hospitalised with the virus as of Tuesday, the highest levels since January.
