Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison mapped out plans to allow vaccinated citizens and permanent residents to return to Australia for the first time amid the tough travel ban, which came into effect in March last year.

This, as Australian immigration has been at its lowest since World War II. The pandemic has certainly impinged upon that, affecting Australian universities relying heavily on fees paid by international students.
This sparked fears students will enrol in other countries unless Australia reopen its border to them.
Meanwhile, Australia is rushing to inoculate its population. The Prime Minister said Australia was slated to reach the vaccination benchmark - 80 percent of the population aged 16 and above having full vaccinated - on Tuesday.
This, amid an outbreak of the more contagious Delta variant that continues to spread.
