The tense standoff at the Bridge somehow eased as Canadian police intervened and entreated demonstrators in Ontario to leave.
But protesters reconvened nearby, creating a snarl-up for a sixth straight day.
And over to Ottawa, it was a spate of protests as people milled around downtown Ottawa to protest the government's COVID edicts, which Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said were formulated based upon science.
The blockades at the Ambassador bridge linking Windsor, Ontario to Detroit have reverberated outside the country. People in France, New Zealand and the Netherlands emulated the success of the "Freedom Convoy".
Even the United States is on high alert as similar protests may be in the cards.
An ex-Cabinet minister in Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's administration took the unususal step of castigating officials who refused to call a halt to the protests that have paralysed automakers in both the U.S. and Canada.
