Philippine university campus shooting leaves three dead

{O/C} To the Philippines, where a gunman fired at people on a university campus in the capital of Manila.

The suspect, who fatally gunned down a former town mayor and two others in a daring attack in broad daylight, was armed with two pistols with a silencer in a vehicle he drove trying to flee the Ateneo de Manila University in suburban Quezon City.

Apparently a medical doctor, the suspect is said to have had a long-running feud with the now deceased former mayor of Lamitan town in southern Basilan province.

But witnesses and authorities tackled him outside the university gates.

The deadly shooting rampage took place right before the graduation ceremony, which was called off following the incident.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has pledged a full and swift investigation, and sent his condolences to the bereaved and wounded.
