Due to a holocaust joke made during a comedy show back in 1998, the director of tonight's Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony has been fired.

The Organising committee's President, Seiko Hashimoto, said a day ahead of the opening ceremony that director Kentaro Kobayashi has been dismissed. He was accused of using a joke about the Holocaust in his comedy act, including the phrase "Let's play Holocaust".
This is considered yet another shocking scandal since Tokyo was chosen to be the city hosting this year's Olympic games.
The director is not the only one fired in the team. Earlie this week, composer Keigo Oyamada, whose music was to be used at the ceremony, was forced to resign because of past bullying of his classmates, about which he boasted in magazine interviews.
