Never-before seen temperature records that were set yesterday were obliterated today as the U.S. west coast saw the hottest day ever.

Seattle hit 108 degrees by evening the day before, well above Sunday’s all time high of 104 degrees.
Oregon also saw another record high in temperature, with the temperature reaching 116 degrees after hitting records of 108 degrees on Saturday and 112 degrees on Sunday.
The Pacific Northwest is well-known for rain, but not heat. So, residents there are doing everything they can to cool themselves off.
Mobile vaccination COVID testing sites were out of service as a result of the excessive heat.
Light rail services in Portland and Seattle remained limited as power cables melted and electricity demand spiked due to the scorching hot weather.
Meanwhile, in many cities across the region, officials opened cooling centers for those who have no air conditioners whatsoever at home. Officials also reminded residents there to stay hydrated, check on their neighbours, and avoid strenuous activities.
British Columbia has also been affected. A record high of 115 degrees was reported in that province.
The heat is now headed east, and more states are expected to be affected, although the weather tomorrow is forecast to be cooler.
