North Korea warned of unstable situation on the Korean Peninsula

North Korea said on Monday that the U.S. allowing South Korea to build more powerful missiles could de-stabilize the Korean Peninsula.

It’s North Korea’s first response to the May 21 summit between leaders of the United States and South Korea, during which the U.S. ended decades-long restrictions that capped South Korea’s missile development and allowed South Korea to develop weapons with unlimited ranges.

The U.S.’ decision is considered a hostile policy against the North. And North Korea is dead set against returning to the negotiating table because it insisted it would enlarge its nuclear arsenal as long as U.S. hostility against the North persists.

North Korea’s commentator said the U.S.’ move continues to thwart North Korea’s missile development.

The South Korean government, meanwhile, said it “prudently watches” North Korea’s reaction.
