New Zealand is among the first to stamp out the coronavirus completely. And now it is planning to cautiously reopen its borders to international travellers early next year.

Officials say they would delay administering second shots of the Pfizer vaccine in order to speed up first shots to protect more people first.

New Zealand's success in erasing the virus has enabled the return of normalcy. The nation of 5 million people has reported only 26 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.

The nation's Prime Minister said fully vaccinated travellers from low-risk countries wouldn't have to quarantine, but those arriving from medium-risk countries would need to fill out some form of quarantine. And for those arriving from high-risk countries, or who were unvaccinated, would need to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
