Peru's new President, Dina Boluarte, has proposed to hold early general elections in her country.

Delivering a nationally televised address, Boluarte said she would send Congress that particular proposal for moving elections up to April 2024.
Her decision comes after deadly protests again on Sunday calling for her resignation and early elections to replace her and Congress.
It marks an about-face as she had previously claimed she should be allowed to serve the remaining three and a half years of her predecessor's tenure.
The protests began rocking Peru after the dramatic ousting and arrest of former president Pedro Castillo last week.
