NASA prepares for Saturday's Artemis launch

{O/C} Intensive preparations are underway for NASA's second attempt at launching its new moon rocket dubbed "Artemis" after Monday's shot was crushed by fuel leaks and unfavourable weather conditions.

An historic mission that marks the inexorable growth of the space industry.

NASA said there was a 60 to 80 percent chance that the weather would cooperate.

Monday's inaugural liftoff of the 98-meter Artemis rocket, the most unassailable yet by NASA, was paralysed by weather odds.

The rocket will be carrying three test dummies on board before strapping in astronauts on the next planned flight in two years.

A confidence-exuding NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said Monday's setback was an indispensable lesson.

BILL NELSON, NASA Administrator:

It's a choreography like ballet or a professional orchestra. The team is very confident.

This is a test flight and that's what you do before you put humans on it. You stress it and you test it and you put loads on it that you wouldn't normally do with a human.
