Lost teddy bear returned to 6-year-old girl

{O/C}

In our final story tonight, it is miracle, as a little girl in the United States who lost her teddy bear while hiking in Glacier National Park in Montana last year finally reunited with it.

Here's that story.

Losing something that you have a soft spot for is truly heartbreaking, especially when getting it back is beyond the realm of possibility.

Be that as it may, this is by no means the case of Naomi Pascal, a 6-year-old girl who was adopted from an Ethiopian orphanage.

Her parents, Ben and Addie Pascal, gave Naomi that teddy bear as a gift before she was adopted in 2016. A teddy Naomi considers a boon companion and an utterly congenial friend.

Back in October last year, when the Pascal family went on a hike in Glacier National Park, the family's friend Terry Hayden watched the children. It was on their trip back to Hayden's place when they realised they had lost the teddy.

Try as they may, they failed to enter the higher elevations of the park due to a blizzard. With only a glimmer of hope, they reported to park officials, on the off chance that someone might return it to Naomi, despite knowing searching for that little teddy is like finding a needle in a haystack and half the battle.

Just as the Pascal family was irked by this mishap, bear specialist and park ranger Tom Mazzarisi stumbled upon her teddy while he and his colleagues were doing some end-of-season work.

Tom Mazzarisi, Glacier National Park Ranger: On our way up, I noticed this little teddy bear, and there was still snow melting off it, a little bit off the trail.

He said, for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to dump it in the trash. Instead, he put the little teddy bear on his truck's dashboard as a consummate mascot.

Tom: Perfect little spot set up, right looking out the front wind shield.

Naomi's mom made a desperate plea for help on Facebook, knowing Naomi hasn't been in a good mood ever since losing her teddy bear.

Perhaps it was Tom's decision to put the teddy bear on his car's dashboard that made for the happy reunion.

Fastfoward to a month ago, Hayden and her adult niece, a photographer with cancer, spotted a stuffed bear in a ranger's truck after being turned back from a trail that was closed. She took a picture and sent it to Addie Pascal, who quickly recognised that bear.

Ben Pascal, Naomi Pascal's dad: Her niece saw a teddy on the dashboard and they texted the picture of the teddy to my wife, Addie, and said, "Is this the bear?" And she said, "Yeah."

Subsequently, a little bird told Naomi that the teddy was coming home.

Soon after, the bear finally returned to the loving Pascal family in Wyoming, where Naomi once again held the teddy in her arms. It was unadulterated joy.

Meanwhile, Hayden bought another teddy for Mazzarisi as a token of gratitude.

And now, having reunited with her lovely teddy bear, Naomi plans to imbue the teddy bear with warmth and love, as she makes sure this never happens again.
