{O/C} A melancholy day as illustrious actor and standup comedian Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at the age of 67.
{RVO}
Most well-known for his iconically raw, scorched voice and crude jokes, he died from a rare genetic muscle disease that can trigger a dangerously abnormal heartbeat.
An intentionally odd and independent comedian, he first came in the limelight with frequent appearance on MTV in its early years, with a brief stint on "Saturday Night Live" in the 1980s.
He also frequently did voice-overs for children's television and movies.
Condolences are pouring in from his best friends and partners.
Gottfried is survived by his wife and two young children.
