Largest wildfire in Oregon spreads further

One of the conflagrations across the U.S. West in Oregon is reportedly spreading further as firefighters scrambled all day to control the blaze.

Meantime, that conflagration was so threatening it prompted authorities to order a new round of evacuations yesterday amid worries that the conflagration in Oregon, dubbed the Bootleg Fire, could merge with another blaze and threaten more lands and homes in the area.

The Bootleg Fire is currently the largest wildfire burning in the U.S.

Earlier, the fire doubled in size almost daily and strong winds from the south on Thursday afternoon gave yet another opportunity for the blaze to spread.

Firefighters had tried to contain the blaze by dropping gallons of fire retardant, but to no avail due to intense fire behaviour and strong winds.

Extremely dry conditions and heat waves, which are still affecting the region, are expected to further exacerbate the situation, and will make wildfires more prevalent and destructive.
