Back in 2009, there was a student reporter Damon Weaver, who gained national acclaim after interviewing then U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House, has died at the age of 23 because of natural causes.
He was 11 when he interviewed then President Obama for 10 minutes in the Diplomatic Room on August 13, 2009. His inquiries mainly focused on education, as the questions covered school lunches, bullying, conflict resolution, and how to succeed. Obama was very glad to accept him as his “homeboy”.
He also interviewed Oprah Winfrey and athletes like Dwyane Wade.
Weaver volunteered to anchor the school newscast at K.E. Cunningham/ Canal Point Elementary school in Florida.
Damon Weaver was 23 when he died on May 1. His sister, Candace Hardy, told the Palm Beach Post about his death, but no further details were released. He had been studying communications at Albany State University in Georgia.
