Investigation into sexual allegations against Cuomo continues

More fallout today from investigative documents that revealed New York governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women.

The National Women's Law Center, alongside several gender groups today hit out at Cuomo for using "trauma as his shield."

And many are saying it is preposterous that Cuomo used a family member's sexual assault to explain his own behaviour with an accuser.

In an open letter released today by the National Women's Law Center alongside several gender and survivor groups, the groups remained adamant they will not be moved by Cuomo's attempts to use the stories of survivors, including those he sexually harassed, as a shield for his own sexual misconduct and abuse of power. The groups said there's no escaping the fact he harassed 11 women, which came to light following yesterday's revelations.

Seen hugging and kissing people in benign settings in his taped statement, Cuomo also said he do kiss people on the forehead, the cheek and the hand, and do embrace people. That, many believe, let the cat out of the bag.

And Cuomo's fall from grace came today when not only New York lawmakers, but the general public also offered their two cents as to whether Cuomo should leave office.

"I hope he has the decency to resign today."

"I thought he should have resigned a long time ago."

"He should. We don't want creeps running the government."

And in a recent poll, 59 percent of the respondents said he should resign.

What's more, at least 86 members of the 150-member New York Assembly were also prompted to be in favour of ousting Cuomo.

Be that as it may, Cuomo remains defiant, saying his actions had been misconstrued and his words misunderstood in a taped statement on Tuesday. "I never touched anyone inappropriately or made any inappropriate sexual advances." Said Cuomo.

While Cuomo faces more and more inquiries into sexual allegations against him, New York State Attorney General Letitia James released the findings of a five-month independent civil inquiry that found Cuomo engaged in unwanted sexual advances, including groping, kissing and hugging.

"The investigation found that governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed current and former New York State employees by engaging in unwelcomed and non-consensual touching, and making numerous offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature." Said James.

Damage to Cuomo's reputation is already done, and his political future is considered unsalvageable hereafter.

With the investigation into his sexual misconduct and abuse of power underway, many agreed that Cuomo is running the risk of getting more serious charges because of his fallacious arguments and making his utterly shocking scandal the worst in decades, and that he will not be able to escape the charges by any stretch of the imagination.
