{O/C} Following the intense debate over the latest abortion ban that rived Texas, yet another abortion ban is threatening to divide Guam.
This comes after a local pro-choice advocate voiced her disappointment over the introduction of a bill to outlaw abortions upon detecting a fetal heartbeat.
The Director of Bureau of Women's Affairs on the island said she had none of the bill.

{Soundbite} JAYNE FLORES, Director of Bureau of Women's Affairs in Guam: Women have a right to confidential, affordable and unrestricted access to the full range of reproductive healthcare options that are available in 2022, including the option to terminate a pregnancy. A woman has a right to decide what’s best for her own health and that includes the right to control what happens within her own body. It’s a decision she should make in consultation with whoever she trusts and be of support to her, not something that the government or anyone else should decide.
The Governor of Guam says she is pro-choice as well.
This, as a private group of citizens may be organising to protest the measure, echoing Flores' sentiment.
