Injuries ahead of presidential inauguration in Kenya

{O/C} In Kenya, some 60 people were bruised as they crammed into a studium where Kenya's new president, William Ruto, was being sworn in.

Ruto, the estranged deputy to departing President Uhuru Kenyatta, narrowly won the August 9 election in East Africa's most stable democracy.

People tried to bypass baton-wielding security forces, but some ended up being bludgeoned by the police.

The Supreme Court last week rejected all challenges to the official results, but defiant Kenyans are not standing down.

Ruto is poised to lead a country whipped by debt that'll impede his campaign promises.
