Public prosecutors say given the favourable outcome of his psychiatric evaluation, Tetsuya Yamagami is mentally fit to be tried for plotting the attack against Abe.

Prosecutors are expected to indict him by January 13th, when his detention period for mental evaluation expires.

He fatally gunned down Abe back on July 8th during his election campaign speech in the Japanese city of Nara.
