Half of U.S. adults have received at least one COVID-19 shot

Satisfactory progress has been reported in the ongoing nationwide vaccination programme in the United States, as half of all adults there have received at least one COVID-19 shot. While this marks another milestone in the nation’s largest-ever vaccination campaign, officials there are now dedicated to working to convince skeptical Americans to roll up their sleeves.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows almost 130 million people, 18 or older, or 50.4 percent of the total adult population, have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Meantime, 84 million adults, or about 32.5 percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The vaccination campaign offered hope in the United States as anti-virus measures will be relaxed if more people are vaccinated against COVID-19. Higher vaccination rates are also conducive to ending the COVID-19 crisis.
