Giant panda in French zoo gave birth to twin girls

And finally, a giant panda on loan to France from China gave birth to female twin cubs early yesterday. The French zoo declared the twin cubs were "very lively, pink and plump."

The Beauval Zoo in southern Paris said the twins were born shortly after 1 a.m. yesterday. They weigh 5.3 and 4.6 ounces.

Their mother Huan Huan and father Yuan Zi are at that zoo on a 10-year loan from China as a testament to the two countries' ties. The twins are the couple's second and third cubs after their first panda, Yuan Meng, was born in France in 2017.

The genders of the pandas have yet to be determined.

The births came after the zoo announced that Huan Huan and Yuan Zi had "mated eight times." Veterinarians then carried out an artificial insemination to increase the chance of making Huan Huan pregnant.

The cubs will only be named 100 days after their birth. They will spend a few years in France before being sent back to China.

Difficulty breeding and pregnancy is really prevalent among giant pandas.

Speaking of pandas, China have sent several pandas to friendly nations in what was known as "panda diplomacy."
