The Gaza Strip’s already feeble health system is currently on the brink of collapse as a result of the fourth war in just over a decade.
Israeli bombardment has overwhelmed the city’s medical centres with a deluge of dead and wounded residents. Many vital medicines are rapidly running out in the coastal territory, as is fuel which are used to keep electricity going.
The coronavirus hit Gaza hard. But just as residents there were ready to pick up the pieces, its only virus testing lab was destroyed by an Israeli airstrikes and has been shut. A massive health crisis is possibly on its way to Gaza and health officials fear further outbreaks among the tens of thousands of displaced residents.
The enclave’s health infrastructure was already in the state of collapse before this latest war. The enclave is now literally hit by a double whammy of the virus and the Israel-Gaza war.
