Gabby Petito was reported missing on September 11th by her parents after she didn't respond to calls and texts for several days while she and her boyfriend went on a trip in the West.
The discovery of her body at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on Sunday prompted authorities to begin a probe into the incident and a search for her boyfriend that are now underway.
The outdoors search includes thousands of acres of forbidding and swampy subtropical terrain replete with alligators, snakes, bobcats and many other wild creatures. There are more than 100 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails as well.
A Teton County Coroner classified Petito's death as a homicide, which insinuates her death might have been caused by another person.
Her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, who has refused to talk to investigators, is now considered a person of interest in this case, although his whereabouts remain shrouded in mystery.
The couple documented online their trip in a white van. However, they got into a physical altercation on August 12th in Utah that led to a police stop for a possible domestic violence case.
Now, there are also rumours that the couple was also involved in an argument in a Wyoming restaurant on August 27. It was one of her last sightings prior to her death.
The FBI has also been looking into the incident and urged those with relevant information of the couple to contact it as soon as possible.
