India on Monday reported a further decline in new COVID infections, as the number of new infections was fewer than 300,000, although COVID deaths remained above the 4,000 level.
281,386 infections were reported in the past, much lower than the figures reported in the past two weeks, though the number of deaths stood at 4,106.
The total number of infections is expected to pass the 24 million mark soon.
Experts’ view that the official figures are much lower than the real ones is now widely accepted.
2.9 percent of the population have been vaccinated.
The Indian government issued more detailed guidelines yesterday, saying people with flu-like illness have to get tested as soon as possible.
