The suspect, 42-year-old Ricky Shiffer, reportedly tried to breach the visitor's screening area at that office Thursday morning and fled once agents confronted him.
He was later spotted driving on Interstate 71 as he was shot by a state trooper.
Then, the suspect got out of his car on a rural road and exchanged gunfire with the police.
With negotiations failing, the police resorted to shooting him to death when he raised a gun towards officers.
Sources say Shiffer had been in Washington days before the January 6 insurrection, and may have partaken in the attack.
Authorities have acknowledged burgeoning threats to FBI agents as well as officers in the country following the surprise Mar-a-Lago raid.
